Work From Home Hacks

If you are currently working from home--THANK YOU for doing your part. Team Gravel is currently working from home, too! Here are some things we are doing to be productive.

If you are currently working from home--THANK YOU for doing your part. Team Gravel is currently working from home, too! Here are some things we are doing to be productive.

The Pomodoro Productivity Method

Sometimes working from home can be a little distracting. This productivity method is easy and perfect for WFH. It's simple: Work for 25 minutes straight. No phone, no distractions. Just the project at hand. Once the 25 minutes is over, take a 3-5 minute break. Then start the 25-minute timer and go hard again.

Have a Routine

It's easy to get out of a routine when you are working from home. Be sure to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at a decent hour so there is a sense of normalcy. If you like to workout, schedule the workout into your routine along with meals. This will hold you accountable for working and will help with the mental stress working from home may bring.

Google Hangouts/Zoom Meetings

This one is obvious, but still great. Use technology to have "face-to-face" meetings while you are working from home. Going back and forth on Slack is okay for most things, but sometimes things need to be discussed over a video chat so everyone is on the same page and feeling great.

Get Cozy

Treat yourself to a new pair of comfy pants while you are working from home. These joggers are on sale for $22 on Amazon and have 4.5 stars. If you're going to work from home you might as well feel comfortable doing it!

 Create a Clean Workspace

Although working from home might be temporary for you, it is worth it to make a space that is free from clutter and distractions. If possible, find a space in your home with awesome natural light so you stay motivated. If you don't have natural light, check out one of these happy lights that trick your brain into feeling like you are working right next to a window (these also help with seasonal depression in the winter!)
