Used inside, outside (to slightly compress), and not used but under the clothing.

At first, I made these tight enough that they would be flat underneath my clothing, and used the backpack carry on without these. Later, I placed straps in areas to help tighten down over work pants, because they are bulkier. Once, I used the straps on the outside to hold the backpack in a more compressed state, and was very happy that there are loops on the outside of the backpack, as well as inside. Very useful!

Cinch straps

I haven't used the product out in the world yet, but so far the testing I've done shows that these straps will work really when packing my new Travel Backpack. They should be very useful for all kinds of applications on the backpack.
